Figuring Out Concepts For Poster + Rough Sketches

Image
Good day, all. This will be a quick update post on how I spent the last few couple of days trying to conceptualize my poster designs and the meanings that they would portray. I am no stranger to concept work so it was really not much of a task in all honesty and I think I was able to develop some alright concepts that are not too complicated but would fulfil the need of portraying what I want to say with it. Here are the images that feature the concept sketches + ideas. I will be noting down the text below just in case some cannot read my handwriting, haha. Roughs and extra comments: The order of comments correlate with the lineup of images of the roughs that I've featured below. • "Behind the Jaws" (1) - "Horror-movie poster inspired design in which the roles are reversed in the sense of the shark being the victim and the human - the villain behind the blade." I decided to go to a cleaver as it would be easier to feature the shark on. In the sketch, I've ma

Critical Perspectives - Figuring Out The Direction I Want To Take

Image
Hey, all. A new post second day in a row, that's got to be a personal best, haha! I started looking into my piece last night and thinking of options on how I can take it on that would result in it being a rather insightful and relevant essay, especially in these times. I haven't made much progress yet but I think I should still write all my progression down while it's still fresh so that I don't forget about all the details. This being only the beginning of the research progress did not stop me from running into a bit of a problem. Well, it wasn't much of a problem, but rather something I was going to have to run into eventually. I'm glad it happened sooner than later though as it could've had bad consequences had I not done what I ended up doing. And yes, I am building up anticipation within a post! (It's nothing too exciting though.) Without further ado, let's get into it. I feel like I should make a statement regarding the problematic bit of it a

Critical Perspectives - Choosing An Artefact

Image
Good day, all. I have finally sat down to face the inevitable Critical Perspectives Module. I've been dreading this moment for so long, but having gotten halfway through the module, I figured it's about time to get a grip and get working. To be fair, I wasn't avoiding it because it was intimidating.. for the most part.. I couldn't really work on it as I had Narrative and Sequence to work on and finish in the midst of it all. But now, since that is over, there's really no excuse for me to be as apprehensive as I am about getting any Crit. Perspective work done, haha. Choosing this artefact has been quite the braintwister. Initially I presumed that it could be quite literally anything as long as it can be perceived visually, then the range eventually got narrower as we were told that not all visual media is acceptable and finally, we were told that it has to be a specific item rather than items in a general sense. It'll make more sense as the text goes on, I promi

Narrative And Sequence Final Work + Evaluation

Image
Good late night, all. The hour of the reckoning is upon us - 6 hours until the actual deadline at the moment I'm writing this post up and let me tell you - the stress is real. I am struggling to even pull a single sentence out of my mind, let alone a cohesive block of text that would perfectly illustrate what I have come up with for my project as well as describing/explaining the final pieces that I was able to create. At this point in time, I have fulfilled most of my vision, however, not quite as much as I wish I could have done. The process was tedious and I took a lot of risks, the most detrimental of which was working with mediums that I had never tried out before this module - sewing and everything that goes into it (developing a pattern, pulling it all together), customizing a box, working with latex, bookbinding, animation and some other! Overall I feel like this module has so far been the most beneficial and enjoyable module, but I'll leave the rest of what's on my

Figuring Out A Plush Pattern And Making It

Image
Good day, all. With the dawn of the deadline for the N&S project creeping at a concerning rate, I have become busier than ever before. However, at the same time, for whatever reason I feel an odd sense of calm.. Not sure if I'm actually not stressed or am I that stressed that my brain has put me under this trance/false sense of security to protect itself? Could also just be the calm before the storm but for my own sake, hopefully not. This post won't be too long as I will only be covering my process of creating the plush. There isn't much of a process as most of it was just me winging it to be honest, the only thing I really thought through was the base of the plush as well as the craters scattered around it. Before I start getting into the process I would just like to note that I have never sewn anything before, only ever done some embroidery but that was nothing compared to the nightmare that was sewing, haha. I'd say for a first time - the end result is not too b
