Exploring Mothman

Image
Good day, all. Today I'm going to attempt doing something that I am really not good at, or at least, something I have not been able to do successfully ever since getting into uni - research. Or, to be more exact, proper and thorough research. I think I'm alright when it comes to finding things, I just really suck at getting down to typing it out on my blogs as I'm more keen on doing the work itself rather than reading or writing. I would say that it's something that has been very detrimental throughout this journey so far and it's something that needs changing. Hopefully with this post, I can do exactly that. Without further ado, let's get into it. I think the best part about Mothman is that while it's one of the more popular cryptids out of the bunch, there is still a lot of mystery surrounding it as its period of prevalence was very limited, reportedly only seen from November 15th, 1966 till December 15th, 1967. Many have made claims to having seen it befo

Settling On A New Point Of Interest (+CSDTI Concept Sketch Flipbook)

Hey, all. Almost a week later I return with a new post! You might be thinking - oh, he must've taken all this time off to get his mind settled on the project and the direction he wants to take, perhaps he's done some proper work for once! Well, I'll have you know - you're very mistaken if you thought so! I have not progressed in the slightest with this project.. Critical perspectives is butting at me, asking me to write it and get it out of the way, but I simply cannot get myself to get down to it, nor can I get myself to do anything for the Visual Essay module either. There's less than a full month left until the deadline and I have absolutely nothing.. my hopes to get at least a pass are slowly fading away.. But I'm not planning on giving up any time soon. This will require extra effort but if it means I finish my first year with a good track record, I'll do it. I have to be honest, I had reached a point where I had given up but I'd like to think that

Digital Adventures - Part B - Deciding On What To Do (Scrapped)

Good day, all. Decided to make a post on this so that I could cement the concept and not scurry too far from it. I noticed I have been doing that subconsciously when thinking about the other possibilities for what to do. I have to say, these projects have so far been the most confusing and directionless yet, I started working and I have no clue what I'm doing to be completely honest with you.. It also seems as though every person has got a different understanding of what it is that we actually need to do so you can't really rely on anyone's word but the lecturer's.. We were provided with some examples but to be totally honest, I still have got no clue on what we're supposed to do but I suppose it would be better to start doing at least something as opposed to not doing anything and getting frustrated by it. If I get it wrong, well, at least I tried, right? Like I said previously, all I want is a pass for this module.. With that mini rant out of the way, time for the

Visual Essay Module Ideas

Good day, all. Thought it would be beneficial to make a somewhat short post compiling all of my ideas into a single space for the sake of not wandering off of the trail to my destination. Had a tutorial a few days ago, it was rather helpful regardless of the fact that I had barely anything on my blog, might have been a sort of way to push me to get actual work done, haha. I took the last few days off to get my mind in the right place and to brace myself for the load of work that is awaiting and today - I will finally begin to work. Throughout this weekend I hope to develop a solidified concept for all 3 projects that we have within this module and hopefully start sketching things out or conduct research via available resources. There's still a full month left until the end of the module so there is no time to waste, let's get onto it. I will start by talking about the things which I have thought of doing for the smaller scale projects that we are asked to do for the workshops o

Digital Adventures - Part A

Good day, all. I have returned with a new post in which I will tackle another module which I've had waiting on me for the last 3 weeks or so. I have to admit, I am not looking forward to working on it. Been mentally avoiding it all the way up until now because the introduction and some of the earlier lectures that followed put me in a mental state in which I feel very on edge and borderline dysfunctional. Another module in which I feel like I had completely different expectations for just in this case, I don't think I will manage to pull off what I did last module - which was overcoming my concerns and getting on it with the work. All I hope for with this module is at least a pass, regardless of how much of a pass it is, as long as I pass, I will be fine. My experience with editorial illustration is very scarce as I've only really had an experience with it for the first time a few months back with the Professional Practice module and I know that this might come across as o

Research For The Critical Perspective Essay (+Analysis/Thesis)

Image
Good day, all. Decided to double post today and get this big portion of work for the Critical Perspectives module out of the way. I started typing this out on the 9th of April, hopefully I can finish it today as well, but knowing how much I need to cover it might not work out. But what's the point in worrying about that (or, to be fair, even bringing it up in the first place, but hey, this is a free space for me to ramble so I will take any opportunity I can to throw a bit of negativity out of my mind and into this void of blocks of text) when I can just get down to doing it instead! It's something I need to work on during this journey for sure; it's not as bad as it used to be but I still find myself being held back by it. Edit: didn't work out.. oh well.. With that little ramble out of the way, let's get on to the actual post! Heads up - this is more of a sketchy version of the post made using the rather limited resources of blogger post-making tools, a better-ed

Making The Poster (Sort Of..)

Image
Good day, all. This will be yet another quick post which will be a sort of documentation of my module work process. After a bit of an art block period, I was able to finally sit down to creating the poster for my Critical Perspectives module. Unfortunately, I later realized that my understanding of the assignment was a bit wrong and my poster is essentially unusable besides working as an additional piece that would make for good research material, so at least not all is lost! However, it means I will have to make a new poster, but this time, I will go with a different approach and do it digitally just for the sake of saving time. I won't lie, I'm a bit bummed I essentially wasted all of this time for it to be wrong, but, I'm quite proud of the result nonetheless. I have yet to print it as we were not allowed on campus during Spring Break (which is another thing that contributed to my art block/laziness, for some time during the break I had the subconscious mindset of "
